At-issue

At-issue I was a part of the short film At-issue from the very early days of Yamination Studios as a Lead Stop Motion Animator. The film was the creation & passion of company founder Drew Roper & funded by Sky Arts & a successful Kickstarter campaign. Just below is the beautifully made behind the scenes documentary by director/producer Drew & the team. At the start of the documentary, I animated the Yamination intro logo which was the very 1st appearance & animation of the central character Bart Yogart!: https://vimeo.com/198860258?fl=pl&fe=sh The film is owned by Sky TV so isn’t online for the moment, but here’s the Teaser (animated by James Carlisle) & a sneak peek at the audition sequence (animated by Andy Biddle): At-issue | Teaser Audition Arrival Sequence https://vimeo.com/74868265?fl=pl&fe=sh Photos from the very beginning of At-issue as Yamination Studios set up to start the stop motion shoot! The very 1st shot of Bart & at this stage his look was top secret so couldn’t be shown in this photo! Drew gluing together the cinema set in time for a visit from Sky Ats Sarah Crombie makes the finishing touches to the beautiful art deco cinema Prepping the 1st set of At-issue with Sarah, Drew, Tim & Chris Tim giving a very early interview for Sky Arts Page came on a studio visit & helped me prep the set for my next shot I asked for the washing line to made from elastic for Bart to press his body into Check out all the wire rigs to control the washing swinging around The elastic worked a treat for making Bart press into the washing line & bounce of! I’m using the red tacky wax pot to help prop Bart’s foot up Animating Bart running along the street with the camera on a moving track behind me The Yamination Nation grows! Welcome Katie & Yossel – & what fine T-shirts! As At-issue premiered, it hit the news headlines with a bang! SKY NEWS: At-issue Accomplished! ‘No I Don’t Want to Dance’ – Short Film by Andrea Vinciguerra

‘No I Don’t Want to Dance’ – Short Film by Andrea Vinciguerra In early 2019 I was animating a wonderfully quirky new stop motion short film along with animator Will Hodge (Chicken Run, Fantastic Mr Fox, Frankenweenie) for director Andrea Vinciguerra!  It’s a dark comedy to raise social awareness of how dangerous dance can be….  My sequences are in the kitchen & in the restaurant  Take a look & share… (just don’t dance)!  https://vimeo.com/329406189?fl=pl&fe=sh The crew daring to take the risk of the dance floor…! Childline: Nobody Is Normal

Childline: Nobody Is Normal As we’ve become used to the post Covid-19 new normal, it’s been a joy to be back animating again for ‘Nobody is Normal’ – Childline‘s mental health awareness campaign. I’m very proud of this beautiful short film directed by Catherine Prowse who made this her passion project throughout Lockdown. Scroll down to catch behind the scenes photos & videos & see how we brought all this to life! Remember, nobody is normal, and however weird you feel inside you’re not alone. https://vimeo.com/475578833?fl=pl&fe=sh Thank you to all the wonderful people at Clapham Road Studios & the team at Rowdy,  Blinkink & The Gate London. Plus huge love to Radiohead for use of Creep which perfectly embodes the emotion we were after! I worked with Catherine to plan out the replacement heads for the zipping & unzipping of costume shots Tobias Fouracre animated these promos intended for social media ‘Stories’. I animated the film itself with the exception of 2 shots which Tobias covered for me. The film was a really fun challenge to get right. It had so many quick shots that didn’t allow much screen time to convey the emotion we needed from the characters. I needed to maximize the frames that I had, make the action clear whilst also giving the characters the space they needed to convey their feelings & connect with the audience. We needed viewers to care about who they were watching & be drawn into the journey of anxiety from rejection, a need for belonging & the eventual sense of kinship in the film’s resolution. The film is short so this was a lot for us to squeeze into the precious little time we had. At it’s core this film is about the need to bond with others & be loved. A primal need that we all share & can relate to. https://vimeo.com/475580415?fl=pl&fe=sh #TimAllenAnimation #StopMotion #Animation #Animator

‘Good Intentions’ Short Film by Anna Mantzaris

‘Good Intentions’ Short Film by Anna Mantzaris It was a delight to animate for Anna Mantzaris on her graduation film at the Royal College of Art. I animated aproximately 60% of the film, giving lots of attention to the anxiety & internal struggle of it’s central character Emma. Once the film was wrapped,  Anna was snapped up as a director for Passion Pictures & rightly so! In this small thriller about decision making and guilt, a young introverted woman is responsible for a car accident. She escapes the scene but can’t stop thinking or imagining, what happened to the other driver. And soon strange things starts to happen… https://vimeo.com/482311708?fl=pl&fe=vl The film premiered at BFI International Film Festival and has since then been shown in over 130 Festivals. Awards:Best Animated Film, Sehsüchte Festival, 2019Jury Award, London International Animation Festival, 2019Best Student Film, Anifilm, 2019Best Hellenic Creator Award, Animasyros International Animation Festival, 2019Storytelling Award, Thessaloniki Animation Festival, 2019Bahega Hafez Award for Best Director, Aswan International Women Film Festival, 2019Silver Brick, Animax Skopje Fest, 2019Special Distinction Award, Cine court animé, 2019Special Mention, Indie Street Film Festival, 2019Honorable Mention, Florida Animation Festival, 2019 Skwigly Magazine interview with Anna Mantzaris   Good Intentions was shot at The Royal College of Art which made for a cosy shoot with no more than around 4-6 crewmembers at any one time. Anna & I indulged in many deep discussions on the human brain & it’s flight/fight/freeze response, analyzing the ever-shifting paranoia & anxiety of Emma, the film’s central character. Global Women ‘Career-Limiting Move’

Global Women ‘Career-Limiting Move’ Happy International Women’s Day! It’s always a pleasure to work with Anna Mantzaris, but this project was extra special! A fantastic cause for Global Women tackling the most ‘Career Limiting Move’ that a woman can make…. Animated by Anna, Mark Waring & myself. I animated the office workers & a lot of flying paper in the second video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGZqRdkHORQ There was a lot of flying paper needed to bring this animation to life! We shot the paper elements separately to the characters to make it easier to paint the wire rigs out. Any paper that the puppets interact with was done at the same time as the puppets, so they were actually holding paper when required to.
